PROJECT - Peace Dialogue, Theatre, and Magazine

PHASE 1

STB Mathare organizes similar (STB) platforms of Community Based Organisations (CBOs) in Korogocho and in Kibera. These ghetto platforms together will form the STB Nairobi Ghetto network that unites more than 50 CBOs (grassroots) organisations working together in this project. Mathare Valley community dialogues for peace, 'Mazungumzo Mtaani' begin.

PHASE 3

STB identifies artists from its network who join the youth-actors for specific performances to mobilize crowds and accompany the theater shows with music, acrobats and other forms of art. Discussion continues at Mazungumzo Mtaani' and inside the 'Mathare Times.'

PHASE 2

STB Nairobi Ghetto Network identifies 15 youth from the different CBOs (5 per ghetto) who are trained in using drama as an educational tool. These 15 youth train the other 45 youth who participate in this project. Peace Magazine 'Mathare Times' written for and by youth gets underway.

PHASE 4

In the run-up to, during and in the aftermath of the elections the youth perform two shows per week. The STB drama groups work closely together to prepare, organize, develop, and evaluate these performances. Right before Election Day, a big event combining all the drama groups from Mathare, Kibera and Korogocho takes place sharing the message: Make Art. Give Peace.
